CH ANTHONY'S ALLYA D'WILLOWMERE bred by curio and lastly, at the bridge The foundation of any breeding program rests with the quality of the bitches selected to produce and carry on the bloodline. Their overall health, vitality, and adherence to the breed standard is important, but is no more important than their ability and willingness to mother their young and instill good temperament in them. With this in mind, we have been very selective about the bitches we've chosen to be part of our breeding program. All of these bitches are free whelpers, and excellent mothers to their puppies from the first moments of life until the puppies leave our care. Any bitch that does not meet all of these criteria is removed from our program, spayed and placed in a home where she can be a companion and not bred. We allow our bitches to be an integral part of the early life of their puppies, meaning that they are with their puppies until they are willing for them to be weaned. It also means that all of our bitches are allowed to assist in the canine socialization process once the puppies are old enough to be allowed to interact with the other dogs. By doing this, the puppies are taught many things by both their dam and the other bitches in the hierarchy. Things such as "respect", "control", "restraint" and other qualities are taught by the adults to the next generation. All of our bitches are CERFed (eye exam) yearly from the age of one year. They have OFA patella and OFA cardiac numbers, which insures that they are not afflicted with luxation of the patella (kneecap) or any sort of cardiac condition. They are parasite free and are fed the best quality diet we can provide for them. All are either AKC Champions of record, or are champion quality. We generally don't breed until a bitch is at least two years of age. Before that age, we don't feel that they have the physical or mental maturity to be the best they can be. It is also important that their health clearances are sound, and since some conditions aren't manifested until after 2 years of age, this can save us a lot of heartache in the long run. We have four generations of bitches here, descending from our CH Anthony's Allya d'Willowmere. We have added some lovely bitches from Sherry Phillips Logos Italian Greyhounds, and feel that they not only compliment the bloodline we already have, but will enhance it when we decide to breed them. We are proud of our girls, and hope you find them as beautiful as we do.
